Coaching Staff

Doc DelCastillo - Head Coach

This is Doc DelCastillo's third year with the Blizzard, and along with Doc comes a wealth of both college and jr. level hockey knowledge and experience; having coached for 10 years at the collegiate level and 7 years at the junior hockey level. Prior to coming back to Minnesota Doc's most recent coaching assignment was the Head Coach for the University of Alaska Nanooks. DelCastillo also played hockey for St. Cloud State from 1988-1992 where he won the Huskies' Sam Lopresti Award for Most Determined Player for the 1990-91 season and again in the 1991-92 season. He also received his bachelor's degree in 1995, has a Master's Degree in Sports Management at SCSU.

Doc's first job in college hockey was at his alma mater, St.Cloud State University. At St. Cloud he served as an Assistant Coach for four years. During his tenure with the Huskies they attained the second highest winning percentage in college hockey with a combined record of 83-34-6. He also has coached at the junior ranks with teams in the USHL. He was the Head Coach and General Manager of the Rochester Mustangs where he guided his team to a runner up finish in the Clark Cup. Before becoming Head Coach for the Nanooks, Doc coached for the University of Nebraska-Omaha for 5 years where he was Assistant Coach, followed by Associate Head Coach. Doc was the man responsible for the majority of the recruiting with UNO.

In addition to coaching, DelCastillo has also been a summer hockey camp instructor with Minnesota Hockey Camps for twenty years.

Doc and his family are in the process of relocating to Alexandria. Doc and his wife Sue have six daughters, Britni 12, Brandi 11, Bryna 10, Brook 5, Brylei 3 and Bradi 7 months.

Jeff Crouse - Assistant Coach

This is Jeff's third year as Assistant Coach with the Alexandria Blizzard. Jeff joined the Blizzard after serving as Head Coach for the North Iowa Outlaws two seasons ago, and leading them to a 38-15 mark, which was good enough for second place in the North American Hockey League's (NAHL) Central Division. Prior to his head coaching stint, Crouse served as Assistant Coach with the Minnesota Blizzard from 2003-2005 and also spent three years as assistant form 2005-2008 with the NAHL's Santa Fe Roadrunners and the North Iowa Outlaws. No stranger to paying junior hockey, Crouse played for three teams- North Iowa, Bismarck and Great Falls- before embarking on a Division III college hockey career with the University of Wisconsin River Falls and Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.

Jeff and his wife Tracie along with their daughter Jacey, currently live back in Alexandria.
